Situated in the Heart of the Waikato, AFFCO Horotiu is one of the original AFFCO processing plants, and has been on the Horotiu site since 1915. During this time it has been extensively rebuilt to make it one of the most efficient and modern facilities in the country.

It is a single species beef plant and is the largest capacity beef plant in the AFFCO Group. It also processes calves during the season.

AFFCO Horotiu is a fully approved halal slaughter facility, and is registered for over 80 export markets including the EU and North America, Middle Eastern and Asian markets. It is HACCP and AusMeat certified. The plant also operates both a rendering and blood plant and produces a full range of beef cuts and offals. All hides are transported daily to a central hide processing plant situated in Napier.

AFFCO prides itself on constantly updating and improving processes to maximise efficiencies and Horotiu is no exception as evidenced by on line pH confirmation, x-ray chemical lean measurement of bulk packed product, robotics and unique boning room configurations.
